SUMMARY:Mindfulness in Libraries
DESCRIPTION:4-week\, asynchronous online course\, offered through Library Juice Academy\, for library staff of all levels and types. \nThe scientific research on mindfulness is in and it is remarkable. Through simply making time in our lives to pay attention\, on purpose\, and without judgement (practicing mindfulness)\, we can actually change our brains in ways that reduce stress and replace our tendency toward worry\, stress\, fear\, anger\, depression\, and anxiety with flexibility\, calm\, self-regulation\, informed decision-making\, peace\, and happiness. This workshop introduces participants to the science of mindfulness\, specifically exploring ways in which mindfulness can support library work. To get the most benefit\, participants should plan to dedicate a minimum of 5-10 minutes per day engaging in the various mindfulness practices presented in the workshop.

SUMMARY:Stretches and Stillness: Supporting Early Learning with Mindfulness and Yoga
DESCRIPTION:Yoga-inspired mindful movement can support the development of physical literacy\, early literacy and social-emotional learning skills. In this interactive training session\, participants will learn what mindfulness is\, experience gentle mindful movement themselves and take away mindfulness-infused activities to use with young children. The Be Project\, a locally-developed mindfulness curriculum being used in PreK-12th grade classrooms in Clark County\, will also be introduced.
